June 26, 2018 Jingdezhen has a lot of new additions to the city. It’s sometimes a little unrecognizable. There is a revolving restaurant, which still kind of blows my mind, but from this absurd viewpoint you can still see much of the old craft city remaining and the beautiful surrounding countryside.
June 25, 2018 Big tiles in Jingdezhen. Once fired glaze tiles the size of two sheets of plywood! A good reminder that amazing things can happen in the humblest or settings.
June 25, 2018 Gallery hopping in the 798 art zone. There were a few great shows, and lots of incredible exhibition venues. Much of the work looked incredibly commercial and lifeless, geared more towards creating selfies than introspective thought. But as it’s clear the gentrification has set in, so many cafes and shops, the commercial tourist appeal is not surprising.
